Letter from the Publisher
Dear Readers:
We are working hard to make the needed changes to survive in a world which is much different than the world we once knew. There once was a time when I looked forward to the day of my retirement, the day that I could see my parents no longer having to worry about fi nancial survival in America, Alabama. Those hopes are now changed by a United States which is becoming more expensive to live in with no increasing money for the many on social security. I can’t retire and live the life I dreamed of when I was in my twenties. As I look at senior citizens in Alabama, the one thing which will force them to retire will be their health! With the inability to work as seniors, the quality of life for many will suffer.
Many of our senior citizens can’t afford to sit at home healthy and not work to bring additional income home after retirement. No one wants to be around home doing nothing, but many of our retirees “must” fi nd work to make ends meet with increases in the cost of living. Every item, which is a necessity for life, is escalating in cost. Yes, you may be a retiree who is fortunate to have two or three checks coming in and retirement is good, but there are millions in Alabama who do not or will not have suffi cient money to live adequately during their golden years.
I’m going to work until my health dictates I can no longer put in the hours! Many Alabamians will join me because they will have no other choice. I pray that your life is long and your health is “great”!
Sincerely
